CHAIR'S REPORT

The Chair reported on a number of recent special events - the annual Volunteers Dinner and Appreciation Night, opening of the refurbished Kits Basketball Courts, opening of redeveloped Pandora Park, and the 10th Anniversary celebrations at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

The last Planning Committee agenda included West Point Grey Community Centre redevelopment, Pride Parade request for beer garden and Connaught Park pilot Farmers' Market.

PRESENTATION

Granville Island Brewing made a generous donation to the Stanley Park restoration project, presenting a cheque for $55,000.

STAFF REPORTS

Theatre Under the Stars - Operating Agreement
The Board approved a 3-year Operating Agreement for Theatre under the Stars (TUTS) to occupy Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. The installation of a temporary new 'gateway' structure for admissions and concessions was also approved. Since 1934, TUTS has been producing quality musicals during the summer. The two shows scheduled for the 2007 season are Grease and Oklahoma.

Donor Recognition Guidelines
This item was deferred to the May 28th Board meeting.

Consultant - Ghost Train and Bright Nights
Mortal Coil Performance Society was awarded the consultant's contract for Artistic Director of the Stanley Park Hallowe'en Ghost Train and Bright Nights in Stanley Park, for a fee of $32,000. In the past, the group has provided creative and professsional services to these popular events. Park Board staff are working on ways to improve net revenues at the Ghost Train.

Sunrise Community Hall - License Agreement
The License Agreement was approved with the Sunrise Community Association for the use of Sunrise Community Hall for 5-years for a nominal fee. The facility, built in the 1930s, is home to recreational/ educational programs and activities in the Hastings-Sunrise neighborhood.

Stanley Park Restoration Plan - Consultant
Gait Enterprises was retained to provide on-site supervision of forestry crews and machinery engaged in the Stanley Park restoration project. Acting as day-to-day supervisor through to the end of October, Gait will balance environmental protection issues with WCB worksafe procedures around the falling and removal of damaged and downed trees prior to the commencement of replanting activities in the park.
