PROCLAMATION

On behalf of Mayor Robertson, the Park Board proclaimed the week of June 15th to 22nd in Vancouver as Skateboard Week and Sunday June 21st as Go Skateboard Day.

CHAIR'S REPORT

The Chair reported on the official opening of Oak Meadows Park, and installation of the sports mosaic at Kitsilano Community Centre and the legacy mural at Britannia Community Centre.

COMMITTEE REPORT

On the last Planning and Enviroment Committee agenda were Seniors Centre Siting (Killarney Community Centre) and Parternship Agreement with VanDusen.

GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT

Park Board related items on Council and Committee agenda this week and last: 2009 Capital Budget, progress of 311 implementation, automated public toilet installation, Recreation Infrastructure Canada funding applications, Canada Day fireworks and East Fraserlands rezoning.

STAFF REPORTS

Stanley Park Restoration - Final Report
The Board approved the goals and objective of the Stanley Park Forest Management Plan. Unspent funds from the Stanley Park Restoration Reserve were allocated to projects and programs identified in the Management Plan. The Board thanked all donors, volunteers, consultants, contractors and staff who participated in the restoration of Stanley Park.

Tecumseh Park Upgrade
The $475,000 contract for construction of East Vancouver's Tecumseh Park was awarded to C.A.P. Ventures. Features of the neighborhood park upgrade will include new play equipment, seating area, leveled lawns, improved drainage, Tai Chi area, additional trees, and new fountain and pathways.

Recreation Infrastructure Canada Funding Applications
The Board approved application to the Recreation Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program for supplemental funding totalling $2 million ($1 million each) to two 2009/2011 Capital Plan projects: incremental enhancements to the neighborhood park renewal program, and additional sport and exercise amenity related to one synthetic turf installation.

Renfrew Pool Change Room Renovations - Contract Award
Parkwood Construction was awarded a contract in the amount of $1,554,419 for the construction of renovations to the Renfrew Pool change rooms. The award is subject to Council's approval of the Board's 2009 Capital Budget.

Stanley Park Shuttle
The Board approved a one-year extension of the agreement with the Vancouver Trolley Company, with agreed to altered terms, for provision of the Stanley Park Shuttle service for the 2009 Season, based on a fare paying service. A contribution of up to $48,000 from the Corporate Sponsorship Fund towards the costs of the 2009 Shuttle service was approved. The Shuttle will run in the park from July 1 to September 7.
