CHAIR'S REPORT

The Chair reported on last week's official openings of the new Killarney and Trout Lake ice rinks.

GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT

Park Board related items on Council and Committee agenda this week: Development Cost Levies Status Report on Collection and Expenditure, and Motion on Independence of Vancouver Park Board

STAFF REPORTS

Trout Lake Community Centre
The concept design for the new Trout Lake Community Centre Development Permit Application was approved. The recently completed ice rink forms the starting point for the new facility, and the themes developed in siting and design of the new arena will be carried through to the community centre.

Operating Plan - 2010 Olympics
The Board received for information a report on the progress of operating plans for the various venues, events, agreements and contributions that staff and others will be providing before, during and after the 2010 Winter Games.

Riley Park Community Centre, Ice Rink and Curling Club Renewal: Allocation of Capital Funds
The Board requested that Council allocate $13.0 million to fund the renewal of Riley Park Community Centre, Riley Park Ice Rink and Vancouver Curling Club, with sources of funds to be $7.0 millon from borrowing authority as part of the 2009 - 2011 Capital Plan, and $6.0 million from the Curling Venue Post-Olympic Conversion Fund. The new public facilities are scheduled to open in September 2011.

MOTIONS

The Board put forward a Motion that staff consult community partners to determine the impact of (Arts and Culture and Sport and Recreation grant funding) cuts to programs and services in Vancouver park and recreation facilities. The Motion carried.

The Board put forward a Motion that the Park Board supply soap and water and where possible hot water in public washrooms maintained by the Board. The Motion carried.
