Meeting Agenda - May 16, 2011
The Chair reported on the seawall thank you event, press launch of Summer Live, reception for Klahowya Village in Stanley Park, opening of the Grandview Park sport court, Commissioners' cherry tree planting, and World Migratory Bird Day events in Stanley and Queen Elizabeth Parks.
GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT
Park Board related items on Committee agenda this week: Community plan for a public system of integrated early care and learning. The Deputy General Manager also reported on the recent progress of renewing the Park Board Strategic Plan.
Financial Statements to March 31, 2011
The March 2011 financial position for the operating budget and donation program was received for information.
Construction Contract Award - West End Community Centre Roof Replacement
The Board approved a $512,521 contract with Mack Kirk Roofing and Sheet Metal Ltd to replace the 30 year old roof of the West End Community Centre.
The Board put forward a motion that Park Board direct staff to report back on the feasibility of mapping important bird migration, feeding, resting and nesting areas within the City of Vancouver, with the goal of applying this information to Park Board's tree planting and planting arrangements, and in park redevelopment programs, in order to attract and sustain habitat for migratory birds to the city as a source of food, nest sites and shelter. The motion carried.
The next regular Park Board meeting will be held at 7 pm on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 2099 Beach Avenue.
