The Chair acknowledged the festive Hallowe'en decorations at the administration office and thanked the volunteer pumpkin carvers of all ages and backgrounds who had participated for the first time.

Spirit Wrestler Gallery made a generous donation to the Stanley Park Restoration Project, presenting a cheque for $10,000 and gifting the first of a limited edition blanket entitled Renewal - Honouring the Spirit of Stanley Park.

Work of the Dog Strategy Task Force - Update
The six member, citizen-based Dog Strategy Task Force was created in May 2006 to review and make recommendations about urban dogs. The group continued to experience challenges on reaching consensus and had not found common ground to move forward to a draft strategy. The Board concluded the work of the Dog Strategy Task Force, with thanks, and requested staff to prepare a summary report as soon as possible on findings to-date.

Cottage Hospice Lease Renewal
The Board received an information report on the 10-year lease renewal for the Cottage Hospice in Burrardview Park. This heritage building offers care for terminally ill adults as well as meeting facilities for the local Hastings community.

The Board put forward a Motion to reorganize the Park Board's committee governance structure to enable inclusive participation and voting, and establish one Committee with membership as follows: Marty Zlotnik (Chair), Loretta Woodcock, Ian Robertson, Korina Houghton, Spencer Herbert, Heather Holden and Allan DeGenova. The Motion was deferred to the December 10th Board meeting.

The next regular Park Board meeting will be held at 7 pm on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 2099 Beach Avenue.
