The following information is intended to provide quick highlights of this scheduled Board meeting. CHAIR'S REPORT

The Chair reported on the December 15th anniversary of the Stanley Park windstorm at which major donors were recognized and ceremonial trees planted. The thousands of other donors who contributed money, time, expertise, equipment and services were also thanked. On December 19th, ground breaking for the new Nanook Day Care Centre took place in China Creek Park. The Chair passed on two notes of appreciation to staff - from the organizers of last November's Remembrance Day event at the Japanese Monument in Stanley Park for their good care of the site; and from recipients of the recent Stanley Park Restoration Report for the comprehensive project update provided by the publication. New Director of Stanley District, Peter Kuran, was welcomed.

GENERAL MANAGER 'S REPORT

Park Board related items on Council agenda this week are Cultural Harmony Awards - presentation of winners and tree planting ceremony, and Motion about animal services in the city.

STAFF REPORTS

Janitorial Services Contract
The Board approved the awarding of a three year contract for janitorial services to Executive Building Maintenance. The service agreement is shared with the City and covers janitorial work at City and Park Board service yards and at Coal Harbour and Roundhouse Community Centres.

Brockton Pavilion Society Lease Renewal
A five year lease extension was granted to the Brockton Pavilion Society. Members of the group include cricket and rugby teams who use the historic clubhouse and Oval field.

Connaught Park Farmers' Market
The Board approved a special permit for Your Local Farmers' Market Society to operate a farmers' market on the Kitsilano Rink parking lot at Connaught Park. This continues a successful pilot of the neighbourhood-based market from last summer. An evaluation will be completed in the Fall.

Delegated Authority for Statutory Right-of-Ways at Hillcrest/Nat Bailey/Riley Parks
The General Manager was authorized to approve and execute all Statutory Right-of-Ways in Hillcrest, Nat Bailey and Riley Parks, to allow for installation of various utilities related to the construction project underway.
