CHAIR'S REPORT
The Chair reported on the
International Day of Persons with Disabilities
held at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation
Centre, the Community Associations' Wine
& Cheese event held at Trout Lake Community
Centre and the Inauguration of the new City
Council held at Sunset Community Centre.
STAFF REPORTS
ActNowBC Seniors' Community Park
The Board approved the location of a Seniors'
Community Park in Tisdall Park adjacent
to the children's playground, and accepted
the Province of BC's contribution of up
to $100,000 towards the project which is
funded under the ActNowBC program. Specialized
outdoor fitness equipment designed for
seniors will be installed in Spring 2009.
Golf Professional Services - Award
of Contracts
A five-year contract was awarded
to Thomas Monaghan for professional golf
services at Fraserview Golf Course (with
provision for a four-year extension upon
completion of capital upgrades). A five-year
contract was awarded to Muncie Booth for
professional golf services at Langara Golf
Course. Class "A" Golf
Professionals are retained on all three
of the Park Board's major courses.
Award of Stanley Park Pay Tennis
Contract 2009-2013
The concession for Stanley Park pay
tennis was awarded to Gayle Dobson and Gordon
Cheng dba G&G Tennis Services, to be renewed
annually for 2010 and subsequent seasons up
to and including 2013. The operator rents out,
provides lessons and runs programs on six courts
near the Fish House Restaurant.
