Meeting Agenda - October 18, 2010

The Chair reported on the official opening of the new Aquatic Centre at Hillcrest Park, Stanley Park Ecology Society Annual General Meeting and Fundraiser Hockey Game for Dr. Peter Centre.

The most recent Planning and Environment Committee agenda included: AAA new site options, Komagata Maru update and Celebration of Light 2011 event proposal.

Park Board related items on City Council agenda this week: Proclamation re Canadian Little League Champions and 2011 Operating Budget Preliminary Estimates.


Vanier Park - Bard on the Beach Expansion of Tent Capacity
The Board approved the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival's expansion of tent capacity to accommodate an audience increase of up to 390 additional visitors to the two main tents combined. The expansion, which will be phased in over the next two seasons, will help meet popular demand for the annual performances now in their 20th year.

Harbourview Daycare Expansion Project
The concept plan was approved for renovations to the existing child care centre on Burrard View Park. The work is subject to the proponents (Hastings Townsite Daycare Society and Kiwassa Neighborhood Services Assocation) securing funding to complete the project and will be at no cost to the Park Board.

Advisory Committee Liaison Appointments
Commissioner Barnes was appointed as Park Board liaison to the City of Vancouver Persons with Disabilities Committee and to the Joint Council on Childcare. Commissioner Blyth was named as Park Board liaison to the City of Vancouver Bicycle Advisory Committee.

The next regular Board meeting will be held at 7 pm on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 2099 Beach Avenue.
