Staff Reports
Park Board Signing Authority
New designations were approved to the signing authority for Park Board accounts to accommodate recent changes in personnel.
Busking Permit Pilot Program
A presentation was made to the Board about a two year pilot program which provides a new approach to busking permit application/selection process, fees for performers in parks and designated zones in Stanley Park, English Bay Beaches and other locations.
Empire Fields, Plateau Sports Park and Greenways Concept Plan
The Board approved the final proposed concept plans for the Empire Fields, the Plateau Sports Park and Greenways of Hastings Park. The new park spaces are supported by residents and stakeholders and reflect the park’s vision of renewal and transformation. Construction for the $8.5 million project will begin in the spring of 2013 with total completion by 2014.
Artists in Residence Partners
A presentation was made to the Board about the selection of more than 30 local artists to participate in the Park Board’s studio residency project at seven repurposed field houses. The artists, many working as collectives, will develop community arts-based engagement including workshops, celebrations and concerts through January 2015.
Chair's Report
The Chair reported on recent events - Pride Parade, Templeton Pool Mural, Power to Be Adventure Therapy, Glitter and Green Bloom Gala, Geyser for Hillcrest Park,, Voices in the Park, Aberthau Mansion’s 100th Anniversary, Dunbar Harvest Festival, Dunbar Community Centre Plaza, Jericho Arts Centre Plaque, and BC Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial.
General Manager’s Report
The General Manager reported on Park Board related item at Council: City’s Budget Outlook for 2013.
Report of the Park Board Committee
The Board approved the recommendations of Committee: Park Board Signing Authority and Empire Fields, Plateau Sports Park and Greenways Concept Plan (see Committee highlights above).
Notice of Motion
Commissioner Sharma put forward a notice of motion re the urban forest management plan.
Commissioner Coupar put forward a notice of motion re the protection of Vancouver’s public parks and green spaces.

The next Park Board Committee Meeting will be held at 7 pm on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 2099 Beach Avenue with next Regular Park Board Meeting held immediately following the Committee Meeting that evening.
