Park Board Committee Meeting

Chair’s Report
The Chair reported on recent events: Black History Month, Lunar New Year, and Creekside Olympic Legacy Celebration.

Staff Reports

Friends for Life Society Lease Renewal
The Board approved the renewal of the lease of Weeks House at 1459 Barclay Street to the Vancouver Friends for Life Society for 10 years. The non-profit Society operates a wellness centre for people living with serious illnesses.

Community Gardens –
Proposed Community Gardens at Creekside Community Centre and at Nelson Park
The Board supported a temporary community garden adjacent to Creekside Community Centre, in partnership with The World in a Garden Multicultural Society; and the Board approved the expansion of the community garden at Nelson Park and amended the current license agreement with the Nelson Park Community Garden Society.

Regular Board Meeting

General Manager’s Report
Park Board related items at Council this week include a policy report on Oakridge Centre to consider sending the rezoning application to public hearing, and a presentation on youth issues from the Vancouver Foundation.

Report of the Park Board Committee
The Board approved the recommendation of Committee: Friends for Life Society Lease Renewal, and Community Gardens - Proposed Community Gardens at Creekside Community Centre and at Nelson Park (see Highlights above).

Next Meeting
The next Park Board Committee Meeting will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 2099 Beach Avenue with next Regular Park Board Meeting held immediately following the Committee Meeting that evening.
