Park Board Committee Meeting
Chair’s Report
The Chair reported on recent events:installation of Places that Matter plaque at Hinge Park, installation of Dude Chilling Park sign at Guelph Park, and International Women’s Day events at Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre.
Staff Reports
VanGolf App
Staff presented an information update on the new VanGolf mobile app featuring the Park Board’s three championship golf courses.
Special Event Approvals – 2014 GranFondo Cycling Event and Music Tree Fundraiser
The Board approved a request from GranFondo Canada, organizers of the RBC GranFondo Whistler, for the cycling event to start in Stanley Park on September 6, 2014. The Board approved a request from The Music Tree Foundation, organizers of the Music Tree East Van Fundraiser, for a ticketed event in Strathcona Park on July 5, 2014.
Regular Board Meeting
Election of Chair
Commissioner Jasper was elected Park Board Chair and Commissioner Blyth was elected Vice-Chair of the Park Board Committee, for 2014.
General Manager’s Report
Park Board related items at Council this week include the Public Hearing about Oakridge Centre, a policy report on the Downtown Eastside Local Area Plan, motions on notice regarding protecting green spaces, art cart programme, Vancouver’s food strategy, and the proclamation for “International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination”.

Commissioner Loke advised of a motion on notice titled Protecting Green Space.
Commissioner Sharma advised of a motion on notice on the Pollinator Project.
Commissioner Barnes advised of a motion on notice regarding loss of Canada Post.
Next Meeting
The next Park Board Committee Meeting will be held on Monday, March 31 2014 at 2099 Beach Avenue with the next Regular Park Board Meeting held immediately following the Committee Meeting that evening.
