CHAIR'S REPORT
The Chair reported on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Naming of Chinatown mascot, Bloedel Jewel Box of Lights opening, Vancouver Street Soccer Tournament, Concord Pacific presentations and Accessible Playground at Kits Beach opening. He also gave a report on the highlights of Park Board operations in 2010.
GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT
Park Board related items on City Council agenda this week: 2011 Operating Budget - Final Estimates, Hasting Park/PNE Master Plan and East Fraser Lands - Public Amenity Financial Plan and Strategy.
COMMITTEE REPORT
Agenda items at the most recent Planning and Environment Committee: Vancouver Cannons, New Brighton Park Saltwater Marsh Proposal and Dog Off Leash Area in West Memorial Park.
ELECTION OF CHAIR, VICE CHAIR
Commissioner Aaron Jasper was re-elected Chair, and Commissioner Constance Barnes was elected Vice Chair of the Board
STAFF REPORT
Child Care Operator Selection Recommendation
The Board approved a 5 year lease with Developmental Disabilities Association for operation of the child care facility at Creekside Community Recreation Centre. It is expected the operation will be up and running by next Spring.
Contract Award for Trillium Park Fieldhouse
The Board referred this agenda item to the next meeting on December 16.
Contract Award for Malkin Bowl
The Board awarded the contract for renovations to Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park to Companion Construction in the amount of $697,765. The work, which will winterize and improve the historic facility, is funded in part by the Federal Infrastructure Stimulus Program.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Park Board will be a Special Meeting on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 2099 Beach Avenue. The next regular Park Board meeting will be held at 7 pm on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 2099 Beach Avenue.
