Chair's Report
The Chair reported on recent events: Hillcrest and Riley Park Open House, Stanley Park Ecology Society ivy removal, Canada Day events and CRAB Park Festival.
Staff Reports
Local Food Action Plan
The Board approved the Local Food Action Plan developed by the Local Food Assets Task Force, whose purpose was to provide policy recommendations and identify opportunities to increase and integrate local food assets into the parks and recreation system. Over the past year, the Task Force and its three working groups inventoried existing food assets and developed a focused and strategic set of 55 actions for the Park Board to work toward over the next five years.
Special Events Approval - Pride Festival 2013
The Board approved a request from the Vancouver Pride Society, organizers of the August 4th Vancouver Pride Festival, to increase the maximum capacity of the event’s licensed area at Sunset Beach Park from 750 to 1,000 persons. The Board also approved a request from the Vancouver Pride Society, organizers of the July 27th Picnic in the Park, to increase the maximum capacity of the licensed area at Brockton rugby field in Stanley Park from 150 to 400 persons.
Motion
Commissioner Coupar put forward a motion that staff report back to the Board regarding the process of locating a home for the greater paddling community on or in proximity to False Creek, with improved options related to both the short and long term; and that the Board be fully informed of all City of Vancouver initiatives that are of consequence to the Park Board and the paddling community in False Creek. The Motion was carried.

The Board approved the recommendations of Committee: Local Food Action Plan, Special Events Approval – Pride Festival 2013 and motion re: paddling community (see Committee highlights above).
General Manager's Report
Park Board related items at Council and Committee this week include: an update on the City’s Greenest City Action Plan and an update on the Healthy City Strategy: Towards a Healthy City for All.

Commissioner De Genova put forward a notice of motion re: Monthly Rotational Deputy Chair Position for Park Board.

The next Park Board Committee Meeting will be held at 7 pm on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 2099 Beach Avenue with next Regular Park Board Meeting held immediately following the Committee Meeting that evening.
